Liza Beth Bruno and Dr. Dylan John Perry were married Aug. 12 at the Abenaqui Country Club in Rye Beach, N.H. The Rev. Richard Stower, a longtime family friend and a retired Unitarian Universalist minister, officiated.
The bride, 30, is an associate director in the office of advancement at Tufts University in Medford, Mass. She graduated from Wake Forest University and received an M.B.A. with a focus on nonprofit management from Boston University.
She is the daughter of Rona L. Zlokower and George C. Bruno of Manchester, N.H. The bride’s father is a former United States ambassador to Belize under President Bill Clinton and currently practices immigration law at Mesa Law in Manchester. He is also the president of the International Resource Group, a consulting firm in Manchester. Her mother is a founder and the executive director of Media Power Youth, a nonprofit organization in Manchester that addresses the media’s influence on child health and behavior.
The groom, 30, is a surgical resident with the Harvard Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery program in Boston. He graduated from Colby College and received a medical degree from the University of Massachusetts Medical School.
He is a son of Nancy O. Perry of Hingham, Mass., and Robert J. Perry of Hull, Mass. The groom’s mother is a children’s librarian at the Norwell Public Library. His father is a vice president of product management in Hull at ASG Technologies, which is based in Naples, Fla.
The couple met at a friend’s birthday party in June 2010, when the groom asked the bride to dance. She said no to the dance but yes to a date after receiving a follow-up voice mail.
